Tim's long road to recovery
Donazione protetta
On February 16th, our beloved stepdad Tim Krantz was in a bad snowmobile accident in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The trip had been a big Christmas gift for his son, Jake, and was supposed to be treasured time for them to make memories together, but was abruptly cut short when Tim collided with another snowmobiler. The other individual in the accident was able to walk away with no major issue, however Tim was not so lucky, suffering massive damage to his cervical spine. He was transported to a nearby hospital to be somewhat stabilized then transferred to Marquette, MI to receive care at their level II trauma center.
He has already undergone two surgeries to reconstruct and stabilize part of his upper spine and the doctors have said over and over that it is nothing short of a miracle that he is both alive and, as far as we can tell, has suffered no major paralysis from his injuries. We are so grateful that he is currently stable and under the care of an incredible team in the Marquette ICU.
His wife (our sweet momma) Maureen, finally made it through some very difficult travel conditions to be with him in Marquette and will remain there for the foreseeable future to be by his side, advocating for him on his very long road to recovery. As you can imagine, this has placed an immense financial strain on them and makes the future feel very unknown. Tim is a general contractor who is very actively involved in running his own business, which is something he will be unable to do for an unknown length of time.
We've had many people reach out wanting updates and asking how they can support Tim & Mo in this time, and we thought a GoFundMe page was the best way to accomplish that! So that Maureen can focus on being present with Tim and all of the emotional and physical strain that comes from that, we will be posting regular updates here. We ask that you do not try to contact her directly at this time, but can post comments and messages for her on this page that we will pass along as is appropriate! Between travel and transport expenses, overwhelming, mounting medical costs, and loss of business, i know that any financial support you can share would mean the world to them. If you know Maureen & Tim- even just as neighbors or students- you know that generosity defines them. Our prayer is that even a fraction of the generosity they have shown to so many over the years would be returned to them in their time of need!
