Thomas, Mikeala and Charlotte Rodda brain cancer

Everyone knows having a child is expensive.. but you never have to think about how expensive cancer is..

Nobody thinks they are going to be given a terminal cancer diagnosis at 26.. Thomas got exactly that!

Thomas, his incredible wife Mikeala and 2 year old daughter Charlotte are currently facing the reality of a terminal brain tumor. This diagnosis not only rocks your world, it also costs a lot to fight for his life.

“Astrocytoma.

A word I never knew existed but a word that has thrown my life into a complete unknown.

On Monday 1st August 2022, after a weekend of not getting his eyes to focus, we discovered Tom has a brain tumor.

To say our lives fell apart would be an understatement, but we didn’t even really know the worse yet. After a week in hospital, the surgeons were confident enough that the swelling was down enough to send him home to await his surgery date.

After surgery, Tom woke up his normal happy cheeky self (just a lot more chatty than normal, if that’s even possible). And I breathed a sigh of relief. But we didn’t really know what was to come.

Unfortunately, they were not able to remove all of the tumor. In fact, they were only able to remove a small portion due to where the tumor is positioned.

And that is where we were officially given the news we had prayed hard not for. Brain Cancer.

Tom’s diagnosis is terminal. He will eventually pass from this. Radiation and chemotherapy may help stop the growth of the tumor but it is not a cure.” - Mikeala
