Children with autism often need an interdisciplinary approach to treatment.  Therapies consist of speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and behavior therapy (ABA).  Health insurance companies are mandated by the State of Florida to provide coverage for ABA therapy.  However, unfortunately, this is not the case.  Many parents often pay out of pocket for their child's therapy due to loop holes in the system, denied claims, lack of adequate coverage, and increases in premiums.  

As a behavior analyst , I see first hand the corruption of the insurance companies and the struggle and persistence of parents to get their child the help they need.  Their persistence has been my inspiration to begin Miami Behavior Therapy.

Priscilla Deal, BCBA provides two free ABA services to the autism community to help with the out of pocket costs for children with autism.  The programs include Snips for Autism (haircut program) and Smiles for Autism (dentist program).   Learn more about these programs at miamibehaviortherapy.com 

Donations made to this page will be used to help fund these free programs. In addition, funds will also be used to help parents at Gomez Behavior Services who need financial assistance  pay for their child's ABA therapy.

There is nothing worse then having to turn a child away because their family can't afford therapy or their insurance company is denying coverage.  We need MORE FREE programs and MORE community support to make Miami the BEST CITY an individual with autism can be raised in, live in, and be accepted in!
