My name is Katrin Hecker, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart on behalf of an organization that has changed the way I see compassion: Animals to Safety—a team I personally know and wholeheartedly support.

Every day, in war-torn regions and places crushed by extreme poverty, animals suffer in silence. They are abandoned, starving, injured, and terrified—often clinging to life while their owners grieve the loss of everything they once had. These animals don’t understand bombs, hunger, or displacement. They only know fear, pain, and the desperate hope that someone, somewhere, will not turn away.

Animals to Safety is that hope.

This small but relentless team puts themselves in harm’s way to rescue animals who have endured the unimaginable. They provide food to bodies that haven’t eaten in days, shelter to those left exposed to violence and the elements, and urgent medical care to animals whose injuries would otherwise mean a slow, painful death. When possible, they even arrange transport to safe homes in the United States—giving these animals a second chance at a life they never thought they’d have.
