A Personal Note from Laura Ann

A dear member of our Blue Ridge family, Assistant Building Manager Laura Ann Pitt, asked that I write a note on her behalf to all of you, thanking you for your concern and care for her and her family over the past several weeks. Laura Ann’s husband, Mike Velemirovich, suffered serious injuries recently, and is now back home from the hospital and slowly recovering and undergoing therapy. Laura Ann and family are sharing care duties to help Mike through his recovery.

Mike will be out of work for an extended period of time. Maintaining family living expenses along with ongoing medical expenses will be very difficult. The family is in need of our support during this trying time. As evidenced in the past, Blue Ridge has always shown a determination to help everyone in its family when times get tough. If you prefer to donate in cash or check, we will place a lock-box marked “Caring” just outside the Management Office and a resident team will manage donations to the family. Please put your donations (checks payable to Laura Ann Pitt), or cash (anonymous if donor desires), in an envelope marked “LAP.” If you wish to send a card or a note to the family, place it in an envelope in the Care Box and we will forward it to Laura Ann.

We will provide updates on Mike and Laura Ann’s progress as time goes by, limited of course by our desire to ensure their privacy on medical issues. The message of today is our affection and support for a key member of our Blue Ridge family.
