The River Cube Project

The River Cube Project  is an inquiry-driven quest to co-create a response to the question "What is a River?"  In May 2019, an artist (Christina Lorena Weisner) and a scientist (Matt Keene) are drifting, paddling, pedaling, and sailing 275 miles from the source of the Neuse River in North Carolina to the Atlantic Ocean.  As they travel, the River Cube Team is contributing to the Project’s Collection by both creating site-specific artworks and gathering diverse ecological and social information that will become the foundations of an immersive art-science exhibition in 2020.  The River Cube - a sculpture - joins the journey from mountains to sea and serves as the strange attractor and holding space for the Collection along the way.

Donations:
We will use donation for two purposes: 1) To complete the trip on the Neuse River in May 2019 (expenses include food, travel, equipment), and 2) To research, analyze, and curate the data collected during the river trip into an immersive art-science exhibit in 2020.

1500$ and Over:   In person meet and greet with The River Cube Project creators, Matt Keene and Christina Lorena Weisner + Hand delivery of an original single print of a 30 minute #createforthecube artwork created by The River Cube Project Team (If you are not local to the Neuse River watershed, let’s chat) + One Family and Friends Pass to North Carolina State Parks.
