Isaih Gathing,
Is a 16 year old youth diagnosed with multiple mental health issues. Isaih aspires to enter the armed forces and become a mechanic like his father. In February of 2018 Isaih was observed on video (broadcast around the country) grappling with a teacher (Kalamazoo Public Schools) climbing onto a chair, getting on the teachers back and choking him.
However, what was not captured on video is described in the police report by several witnesses detailing the teacher twice tried to forcibly remove Isaih's ID from around his neck, and then snatched the ID off Isaih's neck as he turned to leave the room. When Isaih turned to face him the teacher shoved Isaih into a chair and against the wall to restrain him to remove Isaiah from the class.
It is a crime of abuse to restrain students unless the student is a danger to themselves, a danger to others, or engages in significant property destruction that would pose a threat! Isaih has been held in the Kalamazoo County Juvenile home (without bail) since February 2018. Isaih's only crime is that he defended himself from being physically abused.
The family asks that you give generously, and the money will go to reimburse a criminal attorney as a court appointed attorney will not go against it's employer the Kalamazoo County Court!
