The Majer's

My name is Dylan, and my sister and her family are in dire need of help. Their daughter wrote up the following, and I am helping them get this go fund me set up as they have enough on their plate to deal with right now.

Last year, Craig was stricken with a sudden and debilitating illness that has limited his ability to work. Approximately a year ago, he was diagnosed with an acute borrelia miyomotoi infection, a tick-borne illness relatively new to the area of New England they live in.

Over the past year, he has had many ups and downs. Sometimes he would be well enough to work, and then he would experience what his doctor described as “flare-ups” that left him unable to hold things and sometimes walk without falling down for weeks at a time. These flare-ups also involve swelling of his face, hands, and neurological symptoms such as confusion, inability to speak clearly, and severe depression and anxiety. He managed for a period of time while undergoing steroid treatment, but did not tolerate the side effects and the medication was stopped. Craig continues to suffer from these symptoms on and off weekly. Eventually, it became too dangerous for him to work and he has been on a leave of absence since mid-summer. The slow turning wheels of healthcare and the continued uncertainty of how long it will take to recover, disability benefits remain elusive.

The mental, emotional, and financial strain of navigating life and managing a chronic illness has obviously taken a toll. The Majer’s have put off much-needed repairs on cars, their roof and have fallen behind in their bills which keep piling up. They are facing medical bills, travel expenses to receive care from specialists and an uncertain year to come as a one-income household of 4.

This is a picture of his hands and the cramping that occurs. As you can imagine as someone who would normally be working in a kitchen, his physical malady prevents him from doing so.

Please help this family get back on their feet. Our goal of $10,000 may seem lofty, but we would appreciate anything you're able to give.
