The Champigny family

My name is Alyssa Champigny, one of the daughters of Michael and Patricia Champigny. This year 2020 has been awful to everyone, including our family. Our best friend, our hero, our father has been going through multiple life threatening medical conditions for the past few years. It has all recently just caught up to him; diabetes, more than one pulmonary embolism episode, and charcot foot which is a debilitating condition leaving him in pain and unable to walk correctly. Back in March, when Covid-19 cases were sky rocketing, my father tested positive and was struggling horribly, even at his weakest he still had a positive attitude. Besides COVID-19 taking a toll on my dad, he was just recently let go from his full time job unexpectedly. He’s been working since he was 16 years old. My parents have been working at senior living homes since they met. They are both amazing hard working parents. My father has been working two jobs for 20 plus years; his full time job and his part-time job leaving him with only a few hours of sleep.  He worked more than he should to make sure my siblings and I had food on the table, a cozy bed to sleep in, a roof over our heads and gifts under the Christmas tree. He wanted us to have everything we ever wanted and would try his absolute hardest, just to see our faces’ light up. My father has the most caring, and thoughtful soul, he never puts himself first. Everybody who knows my father knows that he is the sweetest, and kindest person. I started this GoFund me because on Monday, October 26th, my father was on the ground gasping for air and fighting for his life unable to breathe. He’s in the hospital right now and has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure. The doctor said that this happened as a result of having covid-19 in March and over the past 7-8 months, fluid was constantly building up in his lungs preventing him from breathing on his own which put him in the ICU. The doctor said there is a strong possibility that he will need open heart surgery. We love my dad more than anything in this world and we want to help him in any way that we can. 2020 was horrible to my father but between his medical problems and losing his job, he needs help. This year has made our family realize that he needs to take a step back, a step back from working 16 plus hours daily, and to focus on recovering physically and mentally. If my father continues to work the amount that he does, his health conditions are expected to worsen. He deserves to live the rest of his life happy and healthy with his family. It’s time to take matters into our own hands and get him the help that he needs. Your support will go towards helping with any of the medical expenses that are sure to come.
