Help the Buck family keep their home
Donation protected
To be welcomed into Joe, Ashley, Ray (13), and Matthew (10) Buck's home is to warmed, healed, held, heard, loved. I have sat over many a cup of tea sharing the joys and woes of life with each of them.
Today, crisis upon crisis leaves them at risk of losing this home.
Joe is a disabled veteran who has within the last six months has had a heart attack, become septic, and received subsequent stent procedures. He is now in need of a pacemaker and will need to go back on the transplant list for a kidney as his current transplant has been strained beyond its limits by these medical emergencies.
Ashley, also disabled and barred by the limitations of disability benefits, cannot take a job without losing access to the healthcare benefits necessary for Joe. Ashley has turned her entire yard into a garden of edible and medicinal native plants, and cares and advocates for her family like no one I've ever met.
Ray was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in fall 2023, and also experiences multiple mental and emotional disabilities as well. Ray has been denied from social security benefits for their disability. They are an artist, a kind and loyal friend, and continually go above and beyond to contribute to their home and family.
Matthew also suffers from several mental and emotional disabilities, requiring complex care and support. He is wicked smart, deeply caring, and can tell you more than you can comprehend about the worlds he builds in video games.
The health difficulties the Buck family faces is only exacerbated by the difficulties in surviving on extremely limited funds, spending so much of their time navigating support resources such as community pantries, applying for and seeking out benefits, and the dealing with hellscape of the American medical system.
The beautiful Buck family has fought and thrived against all odds and despite the ways that the very systems that ought to help them have failed and harmed them; they cannot continue without our aid. Please contribute what you are able so that the Bucks can stay together, remain in their family home and cover medical expenses.
Funds will be used to pay remaining mortgage on the family home and for medical supplies and treatment.
