Support Teen Challenge Jamaica

Did you know that 80% of young men in Jamaica do not know who their fathers are? Drug and alcohol abuse rises for fatherless children, who are much more likely to smoke, drink alcohol and abuse drugs in childhood and adulthood.

In 2019, I had the opportunity to attend a mission trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The experience which changed my life. The stories shared impacted me; I knew I wanted to do more for these young men.

Teen Challenge is a 1 - year residential rehabilitation program for men struggling with drugs and alcohol. The program also focuses on crime and violence, fatherlessness, mentorship, and leadership development. This program gives access to male mentors to further guide and instruct them to not only make better decisions but return to society and contribute positively.

There are costs for students to attend the program. Students may show up needing help or be referred by a family member. No one is turned away, mainly if they want to be there. Funds will be used to register students that can not afford programming and other needs.

Teen Challenge sits on a 9000 sq/ft farm, and the students participate in daily jobs, such as maintenance of the greenhouse, upkeep of the farm animals and building a library, computer lab and classroom. Funds will go to the ongoing construction and improvement of the farm, which also provides income streams to the farm from purchased items such as eggs and bell peppers from local grocery stores and nearby resorts. Also, some of the funds raised will cover a part of my trip.
