Poppy's Life Changing Operation

Where do I start? Poppy is a bright and bubbly four and a half year old who loves to play with her twin sister, and is dearly loved by friends and family. She is so full of life but unfortunately she was born with a condition called Craniosynostosis. This rare condition results in the premature fusing of the places that form the skull. This means as a child's brain develops the brain gets compressed resulting in a range of neurological problems that can become permanent. In Poppy's case, she needs an operation called Posterior Distraction which was developed at Birmingham Children's Hospital around 15 years ago. Their world leading research has lead to the development of this specific operation which should result in her leading a normal life.
For the operation she will have to have her head shaved and to someone who loves her hair, this has not gone down well! So, her Daddy, Uncles Andy and Mike and a family friend James Stuart will be shaving their heads before the operation so Poppy doesn't feel left out!
Your donations will be split equally between the Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity - who work directly with the Children's Hospital and Little Princesses Trust who will be very generously be providing a real hair wig for Poppy after her operation.
