Hi, my name is Renee Dunn, and I’m reaching out for help for my son Keon, a kind, strong, and resilient young man whose life changed completely after a surgery that was supposed to help him.
Just a few months ago, Keon was a healthy, active boy who never once complained about back pain. During a regular checkup, doctors noticed that his spine had a curve and quickly recommended scoliosis surgery — assuring us it was routine and necessary. Everything happened so fast that we barely had time to process it. We trusted the doctors and wanted the best for our son.
But instead of helping, the surgery went terribly wrong.
Complications during the procedure left Keon temporarily paralyzed from the waist down. Our world stopped at that moment. Watching your child wake up unable to move his legs there are no words for that pain.
Since then, Keon has been fighting every single day and has regained movement. He’s now in halo traction, a metal device attached to his head and neck that helps realign his spine and prepare him for yet another surgery October 22— one we’re terrified about, but that he needs to have a real chance at walking again. Halo traction is painful and difficult, but Keon faces it with more courage than I’ve ever seen.
I’ve had to stop working as an annual substitute to care for him full-time while he has been in the hospital since Sept 9, 2025. I simply can’t leave his side. Unfortunately, that means I’m not getting paid, and the bills just keep coming. As a mother, I don’t want to miss a single moment of his healing — but the financial strain is becoming overwhelming. Keon has shown nothing but strength, faith, and determination through all of this. He’s learning how to move, stand, and take steps again — and every small victory brings us hope.
Please help us give Keon the chance to heal fully and walk again. Every donation, share, and prayer makes a difference. Our family will be forever grateful for your support during this fight for Keon’s recovery.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
[Renee Dunn] (Keon’s Mom)
