Tam Lark’s Tumor Treatment
Doação protegida
Just wanted to update everyone. Mom is home and doing very well. Duke has given her permission to drive now. We appreciate all the prayers and donations! At this time she is no longer in need of any additional funds. Thank you again for everything.
Friends, family, those who don’t know our Mom but will see this:
Mom is at the end of her options and we ask that you prayerfully consider donating as you can and as you feel led.
Here is her story:
She has fought three rounds of breast cancer, melanoma cancer, and so many other things. Still, God has always provided a way and has seen fit for her to continue on and to care for our 32 year old brother who is severely disabled - both mentally and physically. He has fought so many of his own battles, yet our Lord has kept him here as well.
Current Situation: The good, the bad, the ugly:
Good: Duke suspected that her breast cancer had metastasized, so they did another MRI. Results:
* no sign of metastatic deposits*
PRAISE GOD!
Bad news: She has a meningioma that grew from 4.9 to 5.21 in one month. This has caused her to have seizures daily, extreme dizziness, and has lost sight in her left eye. Treatment must be done ASAP. If not, the end result will be brain death.
She also had an acoustic vestibular schwannoma that caused permanent hearing loss that is not reversible. Fortunately, it is no longer increasing in size but the damage it caused will require hearing aids Mom cannot afford.
Mom has to move to Durham on 4/30. Her first appointment with radiation is on 5/1 to make the radiation mask.
She will then have radiation treatments to hopefully eradicate or at least stop the growth of the meningioma.
If all goes well, she can return home on 5/10, but her Duke Radiation Oncologist said there is only a 50% chance of the radiation stopping the growth. If it fails, a craniotomy is the only other option, and if that happens she will be in Durham for a long time.
The ugly: Mom has to swallow the little pride she has left and ask for help. She will have to pay for a place to live and move in 4/30.
She simply does not have the money to fund this. She had been working on a plan and is on every wait list for the discounted housing; even the discounted ones are $45 a night plus food and necessities. She already owes Duke thousands of dollars for three recent visits.
We are asking for help from the bottom of our hearts. We don’t know how much time she has left on this earth, but we really want to fight for her to be here with Tripp and all of us for as long as she can. She has five children and eight Grands with another on the way in November. She is loved and cherished.
Any amount will help. You can reach out and ask any of us any questions.
Thanks,
Rebecca, Kenzie, Anna Grace, Tess, and Tripp
