Baby James Lee Meredith and his family needs your help.
Sweet Baby James was born September 29, 2017 at Loma Linda Hospital. He lived his first 6 weeks of life in the NICU.
Our sweet Baby James was born with something called OEIS COMPLEX. A very rare disorder in which people who are born with this suffer from vital organs are formed on the outside of the body as well spinal cord defects, and malformation of gential organs.
In James case he was born with his bladder and parts of his liver on the outside of his body. As well as no presence of his anus and his genitals split in two including his penis. He also has a condition called hip dysplasia. In which the hip bones are splayed open. In addition to that he also has hearing loss in his left ear.
James first surgery was at 3 days old. He had an ostomy to connect his intestine to a tiny ostomy bag outside of his body.
Baby James is going to be back at Loma Linda Hospital for what is expected to be an 6-8 hour surgery with specialists from around the world. They plan to create N opening to his colon and create an anus for him. His condition is extremely rare - less than 1 in 500,000 live births. As the doctor said "there is no number, it's like he was struck by lightning... twice." Baby James condition and treatment will be in medical journals worldwide. The entire procedure is being documented by a medical film crew.
Through all of these challenges Baby James is the sweetest, most loving little baby. His beautiful smile brightens even the darkest days. He is filled with love from his family and friends.
These surgeries require weeks (maybe months) of staying in Loma Linda. Baby James' dad, Mike will have to be off work again or traveling back and forth to be by his side. Baby James will need years of care and surgeries. The costs for medical supplies is astronomical and only a small portion is covered by insurance. Mike has already spent over $6000 in fuel costs over the past 4 months and countless days of work lost traveling to sometimes 9 appointments a week from Palm Springs to San Diego, Loma Linda, and San Bernardino.
We have decided to start a GoFundme funding page to help with medical expenses and to help Baby James' loving parents Mike Meredith and Adriana Meredith pay their expenses during these difficult times.
