Supporting Shelby Poskitt

Hi my name is Aleisha, and I have created this Go Fund Me page for our wonderful community to support the Poskitt family, if they are able to.

For those that don’t know little Shelby Poskitt’s story, she was born with her bowel and liver on the outside of her body, which is referred to as an Omphalocele.

Her mother Rebecca, spent 6+ months in hospital when Shelby was born, and her Father Ryan, was travelling back and forth from Whyalla, continuing to work, and keep the family afloat.

For the last 3 years, Rebecca, Ryan and Shelby have been travelling to Adelaide every 6 months, to see the surgeon/specialist, for reviews of Shelby’s Omphalocele, and discuss surgical options to have Shelby’s organs placed back in to her body, where they belong, and safely.

On the 16th January 2025, Rebecca and Ryan were told it’s time.

Shelby is big enough, and strong enough to now have her surgery.

Shelby’s specialist will be starting the process in approximately 6 weeks, where Shelby will have her first surgery.

The first surgery entails, Shelby to have skin expanders placed inside her body, and initially, they will be deflated.

Shelby will then need to travel to Adelaide every week, for approximately eight weeks, to see her specialist, and slowly inflate the skin expanders.

Two weeks after Shelby’s last appointment, Shelby will have her big operation, to have her organs placed inside her body.

Shelby will need to spend some time in hospital after her surgery, to ensure if any complications occur, Shelby is in the hospital and they can act promptly.

It has been a long and exhausting journey for the Poskitt family, and amongst all the chaos, they unexpectedly introduced another member to their family, baby Mason, born in October, 2024.

Ryan has been caught up in the GFG saga, and was made redundant.

Rebecca was working in a job she loved, and prior to going on maternity leave, her job advised that her position was also being made redundant, leaving Rebecca without work or an income.

Ryan has been able to find work, but he is only casual, and will receive no income for any leave taken.

This has added additional stress to both Ryan and Rebecca.

The cost of going to Adelaide every week, and spending immense about of time there, will add up quickly.

Along with the added cost of living expenses, that continue to rise.

I am hoping to raise some money to support this beautiful family, and their long journey ahead.

Shelby is 3 years old, and brings so much joy to everyone that she has the pleasure of meeting.

Anything big or small would mean the world to Ryan and Rebecca, to support Shelby on her journey.
