Supporting Parents Association for Children with Tumours
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Ethan and I am 12.
In June 2023 I was diagnosed with Brain cancer. I spent 4 months in hospital and over 10 months having treatment on the Oncology ward at Sheffield Children's Hospital.
After my second operation to remove the tumour I lost the ability to talk, eat and move.
In October 2023, I started working on being able to stand up and have had to re-learn how to walk. I have hemiplegia (reduced mobility on my left side) and ataxia which effects my balance and coordination but can walk with a stick and short distances unaided as long as someone is next to me in case I fall. I am in remission at the moment and have another scan later this month.
The PACT team help families in the oncology clinic and ward. They provide a treats trolley every week day, activities, days out, cake day for parents, a chat, lunch for parents during the week, breakfast for parents on the ward and arrange lots of fundraising to do all of this at no cost to the children and parents.
I have set a goal to walk the festive family fun run mile at Sherwood Pines on 15th December to raise money for PACT and contribute to provding snacks for the treat trolley. I am hoping to walk this unaided with a few rests but I will use my stick or wheelchair for parts if I can't manage it.
If you can spare anything please donate. You are welcome to come along and cheer me on at the finish line. If I reach my target I will do the walk dressed as an elf
