Supporting a Muslim family whose house burnt down

In the early hours of Saturday, 24 May, a devastating fire broke out at a home on Tillett Close in Stonebridge. The fire, which began around 01:22am, completely destroyed the home of two Muslim families.

Two houses burnt down. One house was occupied by a Pakistani family, resulting in the tragic loss of four lives. The other house affected was a Somali household. While there is an alternative GoFundMe campaign established to support the Pakistani family, this donation is specifically intended to support the Somali household during this difficult time.

Alhamdulillah, everyone in the Somali household made it out safely, but they were forced to leave with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

The family has lost everything-clothing, furniture, documents, and all their essentials. At this moment, they are without a home and in urgent need of support from the community.

We are reaching out especially to our Muslim brothers and sisters during this difficult time, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) reminded us that helping those in need is a duty upon us. All donations raised will go directly to the family to help them buy basic necessities- clothing, food, toiletries, and eventually help towards finding stable accommodation.

I’m raising funds for my close friend Ilham Dahir whose family was affected by a devastating house fire. We went to university together and have remained close friends ever since. Their home was severely damaged in the fire, and tragically, their neighbours lost their lives. This fundraiser is to help Ilham Dahir’s family recover from this heartbreaking event and begin rebuilding their lives. The funds will be used to help Ilham’s family recover from the fire including replacing essential belongings, supporting their daily living needs, and helping them get back on their feet. This includes clothing, food, school supplies, basic household items, and other urgent costs they’re facing after losing their home. I will personally transfer the money directly to the family to ensure it reaches them quickly and securely. I have been in close contact with Ilham throughout this process and will provide updates if needed so donors know their contributions are making a real difference. I’ve seen firsthand how much help they need right now, which is why I created this fundraiser on their behalf. I (Madihah Anjum) will receive the funds and thereafter transfer them to Ilham Dahir.
