No child should endure what Zach did; in a school. #abuse

I’m asking for donations for my 16-year-old son, Zach. He has autism - he’s always been easygoing, healthy, self-sufficient, smart, and kind. For nine years he had zero behavior issues, no medications, zero incidents in general education enviroment with his peers.
But everything changed. Zach was illegally removed from general education and forced full-time into a high-needs special education enviroment he never belonged in. He was miserable and told me every day he wanted to go back to the “real high school.” he was " "being bullied and tortured by a teacher."
Through documents I uncovered, I believe Zach was the victim of daily abuse, daily isolation, and neglect by more than 25 staff members who failed to report and get Zach medical when he asked or that he was attempting suicide daily in the school or when he stopped breathing for example - and on top of that, he was sexually assaulted by a teacher, confirmed this year to therapist. The very people who were supposed to protect him failed him in the worst possible way.
Zach still suffers severe mental and physical injuries: ptsd, dissociation, DID, catatonia, tardive dyskinesia, dystonia, depression, anxiety, and panic disorder - complex trauma from prolonged neglect and sexual abuse in a public school, no child should ever bear. Zach has been medically homebound since April 2024. Wisconsin has zero facilities for kids with special needs in a crisis like this.
Since then, I’ve been his full-time nurse, caregiver, and only advocate -fighting non-stop for answers. On top of the education system failures, we’re battling the medical system too. Zach is now on his fourth doctor trying to get him medically stabilized - after being misdiagnosed and hurt by medication side effects that caused more injuries, including td, catatonia and pelvic floor dysfunction. He now also needs physical therapy to recover from damage that shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
I know this page has been quiet - not just because Zach’s needs are 24/7, but also because the superintendent sent me a cease and desist, trying to scare me into silence. They don’t want Zach’s story told. The 25 pages of incidents are hard to read but all fact. I won’t back down - not when it comes to my child’s life, safety, and future.
For over a year, I’ve been advocating non-stop for Zach’s medical and educational rights -but most importantly, for Zach himself. We have been discriminated and retaliated against.
I want to raise awareness about seclusion and restraint in schools, a hidden practice that has been misused for decades, injuring kids and even costing lives. If someone hurt your child anywhere else, you’d expect justice - but in a public school, it’s David vs. Goliath.
I’ve filed complaints with the OCR and DPI (lost, HS comitted fraud, not surprised, if you know you know..), few lawyers will take on a complicated case like this. It’s not a typical injury claim - special education law is complex and expensive to fight. Federal, State, Civil and Criminal violations.
Here’s how your donations will help Zach recover and get justice:
A lawyer (retainer $5-10k) to hold the school and teachers accountable. Provide FAPE and reimbursement. Educational and Civil Rights Lawyer needed. Reality you're trying to sue the government and that's almost impossible. if you know, you know..
An Amen Clinic Brain SPECT Scan (est. $5k) to see the real neurological areas and any damage and guide true healing.
A GeneSight DNA test to know exactly how Zach’s body processes medications - no more guessing no more severe side effects.
A Google tablet and teaching supplies so Zach can keep learning safely at home- Least Restrictive Enviroment.
Specialty foods, vitamins, and holistic care to help him gain weight and rebuild strength. (Tried Vitamin D, B-complex, Magnesium flakes, Grow Growth Formula, etc)
Physical therapy and trauma-informed education services. (Somatic, Reiki, emdr, art/music) Any suggestions helpful! I've never seen anything like this. #mentalawareness
On top of advocating for Zach, I’m fighting for every child: "Keeping All Students Safe Act." The people put in place to protect Zach failed him completely - teachers, staff, administrators, governing agencies, and the medical system. No child should be hurt like this under a school’s watch - or left in medical limbo - ever again. #NAMI
That’s why I’m pushing for stronger laws like Erin’s Law and AJ’s Law, which require schools to teach kids about body safety, train staff to respond to abuse, and ban abusive restraint and seclusion. I spoke at the Capitol in Madison, WI on my birthday to share Zach’s story and demand change -you can watch here: on TikTok
I’m not backing down - not for Zach, not for any child.
If you can donate - thank you. If you can share - thank you. If you’re a parent, please check your school’s seclusion/restraint laws and push for stronger protections like Erin’s Law and AJ’s Law. Every parent should know their rights. I’m here to answer questions and stand with other families too.
With hope,
Amy
