Support Haley Bott and ARP in Nepal

For the next 2.5 months, I’ll be working in a clinic run by the Acupuncture Relief Project and Good Health Nepal a nonprofit and NGO, respectively, run by two of my favorite teachers from school.

The clinic itself is a permanent facility that helps to provide primary care to people in the village and surrounding areas, and is co-located with a birthing center and a tuberculosis treatment facility.

 What I’ll be doing is:
~ Providing “free!” (to the people, from your donations) high quality medical care to people who often have never been to a doctor!
~ Helping screen for mostly non-communicable diseases and also triage referrals for more serious cases
~ Treating 4-5 people, per clinician, per hour (20 per day for me, which is a massive scale up from 5-6 per day)
~ Treating well outside of my scope of practice in the US and bringing what I learn home so I can be a better healthcare provider!
~ Doing lots of acupuncture but also doing lots of not acupuncture! (acupuncture is what brings a lot of people to the clinic, but is also not the main focus of providing care)
~ working with interpreters for treating patients
~ living pretty simply: eating, sleeping, working, laundry!

 I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can from the Nepalese family and others who live and work at the clinic full time, as well as giving back what I can in gratitude for the opportunity to learn what healthcare looks like in a developing country.
