To our dear Friends of Van,
This summer brought news none of us ever expected. In June 2025, Van was rushed to the hospital with debilitating leg pain. After three days and extensive testing, doctors found dangerously high PSA levels and, soon after, confirmed an advanced prostate cancer diagnosis.
Since then, Van has faced this journey with the courage, grace, and steady faith we all know him for. Under the care of a dedicated team at Mary Bird Perkins in Baton Rouge, he began hormone therapy to slow the cancer’s growth and prepare his body for the next phase of treatment. His radiation treatments have begun and will continue through the first part of January.
As medical appointments multiply and treatments intensify, the costs are mounting. Copays, medications, imaging, and travel—combined with an impacted work schedule and the uncertainty of a long road ahead—have created a financial burden we’re hoping to help lift.
How your support will help:
- Medical expenses not covered by insurance (copays, scans, labs, medications)
- Travel and lodging for treatments and follow-up care
- Lost income during treatment and recovery
- Everyday living costs to keep the household stable (utilities, groceries, essentials)
- Future care needs as the treatment plan evolves
There is no gift too small or too large. Every donation makes a tangible difference and gives Van the space to focus on healing. If you’re unable to give at this time, sharing this page and keeping Van in your prayers are deeply appreciated.
Van has always been the one showing up—steadfast for his friends, devoted to his family, and engaged in his community. Now it’s our turn to show up for him. Your love, generosity, and words of encouragement mean more than we can ever express.
We will post updates as treatment progresses so you can walk alongside him on this journey. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, your support, and your belief in Van’s strength.
With gratitude,
Friends and Family of Van
