Support Thomas's Recovery Journey

Hi family and friends. I know some of you are aware of what a nightmare our lives have been the last 10 days. We’ve appreciated the privacy immensely. There are so many wonderful people that have asked me how they can help. So we’ll start here because I need so much help that it’s overwhelming and I’m not the greatest at asking for it. On Friday, July 19th, Thomas had a seizure at work which resulted in him going into cardiac arrest. They brought his heart back but he was without oxygen to the brain for 7-10 minutes. He was in the ICU at St Johns for 8 days, on a ventilator for a week. He was very heavily sedated and monitored with a live EEG to measure seizure activity. We started to get some responsiveness around Wednesday. And some attempts at verbal communication on Friday. He is making such great strides every day. We have moved to a less critical wing of the hospital for now. We just have to wait to see what mental and physical capacities he regains. We don’t know what the outcome will be. We are just surviving day by day. At some point this week, we are hopeful to transition to a rehabilitation center to work as aggressively as we can to get him back physically and mentally. We started PT yesterday with sitting up for 10 minutes. Every day is a miracle right now and we hope they keep coming. It is with my deepest sadness that I have to reach out for help. But he is obviously not working. I have not been able to work either job, and will not be able to return as of yet, for who knows how long. He needs me here every day, all day. We have no idea what kind of timeline we are on. Or if I will have to become a full time caretaker. Our families have helped out so much, but financially, I’m terrified. And I have SUCH bigger things to worry about currently. I’m asking for any help possible while we navigate the next few steps in our lives. Anything would help. As you can imagine, bills don’t stop, even for things like this. Even sharing this post. From the bottom of our hearts; Thomas, Ava, and myself will be deeply grateful for anything you could donate. And please, keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We love you all.
