Hi Everyone!

We are moving back to Maryland! After 15 years in California (20 for Dan), we decided that being closer to our family is the best thing for us at this point in our lives. Our kids will have the chance to grow up with their grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family, and we (mom and dad) will have a much needed support system!

Unfortunately, our new jobs do not offer any relocation assistance, and moving cross country is expensive! We are fixing up our home to sell it right now, which has cost some money out of pocket and doesn’t leave a lot of money for the actual move! We bought a trailer ($6,000 loan) to resell once we get to Maryland to help reduce shipping costs for our things, but we also have to pay first and last months rent and a deposit on our rental home in Maryland ($6,500), plus we bought three plane tickets to fly our kids to Maryland so they don’t have to drive cross country with us ($800). All these travel expenses are really adding up and we don’t make that much money as state scientists. If you have any extra money you could chip in to help us offset some of these costs, it would be greatly appreciated!
