Help the Privateers carry Bermuda’s colors onto the world stage.

This November, SSL Team Bermuda heads to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to compete in the 2026 SSL Gold Cup — the World Cup of sailing — with a place in the Final Series on the line.

We are raising funds to secure a dedicated professional coach who will help transform our sailors’ individual talent into a cohesive, race-ready team.

Your support can help Bermuda compete, inspire the next generation and continue a legacy of opportunity for young Bermudian sailors.

HELP US INVEST IN PERFORMANCE

We are raising USD$5,000 specifically to secure a dedicated professional coach in Rio.

At this level of international competition, the ability to communicate, make decisions under pressure and operate as one team can make a critical difference.

Professional coaching will help us make the most of our preparation time and give our sailors the opportunity to arrive at the starting line prepared to compete.

Your contribution will support:

● Race strategy and tactics: Intensive preparation in starting strategy, decision-making and high-pressure race situations.

● Crew integration: Developing communication, coordination and trust across the team.

● Boat handling: Building familiarity and confidence aboard the SSL47.

● Performance development: Focused training and debriefs during our official training camp from 4–8 November, refining our approach ahead of the qualifiers.

Every contribution brings us closer to securing this essential support.

MORE THAN A RACE. A LEGACY FOR BERMUDA.

Over the past four years, SSL Team Bermuda has provided and facilitated opportunities for approximately 50 young Bermudians – around 60% male and 40% female with opportunities to experience competitive keelboat sailing and racing.

Sailors from across the local community have developed their skills alongside some of Bermuda's most experienced keelboat sailors, participating in International Invitational Race Week, the Bermuda Keelboat Nationals and Wednesday Night Racing.

The programme has also opened doors internationally, including competing at the 2023 SSL Gold Cup in Gran Canaria, Spain.

These opportunities are about more than sailing. They are about developing teamwork, confidence, resilience and the experience of representing Bermuda on an international stage.

Now, we have another opportunity to take that journey further.

THE WORLD CUP OF SAILING

Inspired by the FIFA World Cup format, the SSL Gold Cup brings nations together to compete for the title of Nations World Champion.

Teams race in identical SSL47 one-design yachts supplied by the organisers, putting the emphasis on the sailors’ skills, strategy and teamwork.

Our immediate challenge is the Pan American Qualifying Event, where the Privateers will compete against Antigua and Guatemala for the opportunity to progress to the SSL Gold Cup Final Series.

Led by our experienced captain, Rockal Evans, our team has the talent, determination and national pride to take on this challenge.

But talent alone is not enough. Preparation matters.

WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS

This campaign is about more than one competition.

It is about sustaining opportunities for young Bermudians to develop through sailing, compete alongside experienced athletes and represent their country internationally.

For our sailors, this is an opportunity to test themselves against international competition and carry the hopes and pride of Bermuda with them.

For our supporters, it is an opportunity to be part of a team journey that extends beyond the racecourse.

Whether you are a passionate sailing supporter, a member of the Bermudian community at home or overseas, or a business seeking to support Bermudian sporting talent, we invite you to stand with the Privateers.

Your support will help us invest in the preparation, teamwork and performance needed to compete at our best.

OUR JOURNEY: RIO, NOVEMBER 2026
