With permission from the Keane family, on behalf of Deanna, Mike & Jason - sharing Mike’s story in efforts to raise money to help the Keane family during this difficult time. As Mike has a long road ahead, and Deanna will need to take a leave of absence from work to support her son and Mike’s recovery.
As an ER/ICU nurse… you’re always prepared for the worst and ready to handle any emergency situation. What you’ll never be prepared to do is watch your spouse have a medical emergency in front of you, and you need to react to save their life.
On January 27th at 3:45am, that’s exactly what Deanna did… when Mike woke her up and said he felt like he couldn’t breathe following by going lifeless in front of her. Deanna had to get her husband to the floor and initiate CPR while calling for help.
A group text to old coworkers usually filled with funny memes or “who’s at work, I’m going to be late” turned into “who’s at work, I just did CPR on Mike and we’re on our way.”
Mike is only 33, with no significant medical history and at this time there are still no real answers to what happened. Currently stable in the ICU, the family is hoping to have some answers soon.
We all know how much of a burden medical bills can be financially on top of the long road ahead requiring time away from work. Please consider taking the time to share, or donate.. even if it means your coffee money for the day.
