Hi, I’m Jennifer Young, and I’ve called Ballina home for 25 years.
I’m starting The Coastal Collective Op Shop Inc., a charity created from the heart, with one purpose:
to support our local youth, families, and anyone in our community who needs a hand.
I’ve been volunteering in op shops for years and have seen firsthand how much good they bring. But I’ve also seen the gap — the need for a space that not only sells second-hand goods, but creates connection, dignity, and real support for people right here in the Northern Rivers.
That’s why I’ve taken the step to build a charity of my own, from the ground up.
What We’re Trying to Do
We’re working hard to get our first shop up and running in Ballina.
Once open, every donated item, every upcycled creation, and every sale will help fund programs and support for our community — especially young people and vulnerable families who need it most.
But to open our doors, we need help.
What Your Donation Supports
Your contribution will help us cover the essential startup costs, including:
Securing a shop space in Ballina
Insurance and setup fees
Shelving, racks, and storage
Cleaning and fit-out
EFTPOS and operational costs
Materials for upcycling donated fabrics into handmade bags, blankets, and clothing
Every dollar goes directly into building a community space that gives back.
Why This Matters
Ballina is an incredibly generous town. We show up for each other.
This op shop isn’t just a shop — it’s a place where people can find comfort, support, connection, and dignity.
A place where unwanted items become new opportunities.
A place that stands on kindness, sustainability, and community care.
How You Can Help
If you can donate, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
If you can share this fundraiser, that helps just as much.
And if you know someone who might like to get involved, please pass this on.
Together, we can build something beautiful for Ballina — one small act of kindness at a time.
Thank you,
Jennifer Young
