We’ve been keeping a lil secret, but now we’re finally ready to share. We are adopting!

Our journey to grow our family hasn't looked the way we imagined. After experiencing our first miscarriage, we were incredibly blessed to welcome our son, Maverick, after a healthy full-term pregnancy. He is the greatest joy of our lives and has only deepened our desire to grow our family. Since his birth, however, we have experienced two additional miscarriages. We've gone through medical testing, searching for answers, but so far, no explanation has been found for why we've struggled to carry another pregnancy. Over time, we've felt God gently leading our hearts toward adoption.

We want to be clear about what adoption means to us.

It is not a last resort or a replacement for the children we've lost. It does not signify the end of our hopes of growing our family naturally. Both adoption and hopes of conceiving naturally, can exist simultaneously — they do not need to be mutually exclusive. Adoption is about opening our hearts and home to a child who needs a safe, loving, and joyful family and embracing the beautiful story God is writing for us.

The adoption journey is filled with excitement, hope, and anticipation, but it also comes with significant financial costs. Expenses such as agency fees, legal services, home studies, travel, and other adoption-related costs can quickly become overwhelming.

If you’ve never adopted before, you’ll be surprised to know that adoption can cost $45k+. After talking with multiple agencies and selecting one we felt would best meet both our needs and the birth family’s needs, we have decided to set our goal to $50k to help us pay for the adoption and still have some wiggle room incase extra fees come up OR to help us get supplies for our soon-to-be adopted child (clothing, hygiene items, formula, diapers, nursery furniture, etc.).

If you feel led to support us, your generosity will help make this dream possible. Whether you donate or simply share our story, you are becoming a part of our child's journey home.

Every contribution, no matter the amount, brings us one step closer to welcoming the child we've been praying for into our family.

More than anything, we ask for your prayers—for wisdom throughout this process, for the birth family, for our future child, and for peace as we navigate each step of this journey.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in our family and for walking alongside us. We cannot wait for the day we can introduce you to the newest member of our family.

With love,

Carson, Jayda, & Maverick Abbott

More about our family:

We met while attending Brigham Young University–Idaho and quickly built a friendship that would become the foundation of our marriage. We were married in March 2020, just before the world shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the uncertainty of that season, we continued pursuing our goals and graduated together in 2021. In 2023, we welcomed our son, Maverick, who has brought even more excitement, laughter, and purpose to our lives. After living in both Colorado and Utah, we decided there was no place quite like home and returned to Idaho, where we purchased our first home and have loved making it our own.

Carson was born in Utah and raised in Idaho. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management from Brigham Young University–Idaho before completing a MBA through Western Governors University. Today, he works in construction as a Senior Project Engineer, where he enjoys solving problems and helping bring projects to life. Outside of work, Carson enjoys playing guitar, riding motorcycles, going to the gym, snowboarding, and spending time outdoors.

Jayda is an Idaho native. She graduated from Brigham Young University–Idaho with a Bachelor's Degree in Visual Communications. She owns a social media marketing business that gives her the flexibility to work from home while also being a full-time stay-at-home mom. She loves reading, gardening, dancing, watching movies, and spending time outdoors, as long as it’s not snowing.

Maverick, affectionately known as "Mav," is the energetic heart of the family. At three years old, he is endlessly curious and full of personality. He loves cars, motorcycles, and airplanes. He's also a big fan of Mickey Mouse, enjoys playing outside with the family's two dogs, and loves helping his mom in the garden. Whether he's riding motorcycles with his dad, strumming a guitar, banging on the drums, or volunteering to taste-test whatever his mom is cooking, Maverick brings excitement and laughter wherever he goes.

As a family, the three of us love making the most of every season together. We prioritize quality time together. Throughout the year, we have enjoyed taking small trips whenever we can. So far, this year, we’ve attended a local basketball game, gone camping, spent time at Bear Lake, kayaked in Island Park, visited Lagoon amusement park, and made countless trips across the state to spend time with our extended families.

Above all, our family strives to build a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and adventure. We believe some of life's greatest moments are found in everyday experiences—working together in the yard, sharing meals around the table, traveling to new places, and making memories that will last a lifetime. Home in Idaho has become the perfect place to continue writing our family's story, and we are so excited for all the adventures to come.
