Hello, my name is Ten (they/them) and I’m a Trans* multimedia artist and performer living in Tacoma, WA. I’m excited to share that I have my gender affirming Hysterectomy scheduled for June 3rd, but I need your help to make it happen! With the current administration slashing Trans and reproductive rights, I need this surgery to happen this year!

Since my cycle first started, it has been hell to be in my body multiple weeks out of the month. I’ve despised the bleeding and what it meant my body had the capacity to do, before I ever identified as Trans and could name this feeling as gender dysphoria.

I’ve always had terrible cramps which have only worsened as I’ve gotten older. These days, the abdominal pain and bloating with every meal becomes so intense that I regularly need to stay home from work at least one or two days every period. I’ve known since I was nineteen that I will never desire to birth a child from my own body and being pregnant is one of the most dysphoric things I can imagine. This fact alone makes enduring these painful, obtrusive periods feel so pointless and infuriating to me.

Throughout my life I’ve tried various hormonal interventions, from multiple kinds of birth control in my teen years to testosterone in the present, all in hopes any of these would stop my cycle. As of yet, none have and I’m ready for a permanent solution to my pain and dysphoria.

The current estimated cost of this surgery is my Out of Pocket Maximum with my insurance which is $3,660. As the prior authorization with insurance is still being processed, I will update here about any additional costs.
