Support St. Pete Community's Housing Crisis
Donation protected
For my first year in St. Pete, I have lived in an affordable, co-living community called Docked Living. Docked buys single-family houses and outfits them with anywhere from 3 to 15 individual living spaces (bedroom + bathroom). This model has allowed for affordable living for hundreds of people coming to St. Pete for the first time to experience this awesome city. If it wasn't for Docked Living, I wouldn't have been able to lay my roots in St. Pete and invest in the community the way that I have in one year.
About 30 days ago, the fire marshal came in and reported the houses did not meet safety standards. Docked was legally established as single-family housing, while the fire marshal deemed it community living, requiring hundreds of thousands of dollars in fire safety and engineering renovations within 30 days. Docked was not able to comply, and on Friday, 5 of the houses (including mine) were notified they have 5 days to move out.
I am blessed with a great community and a paycheck that gives me flexibility. But 50+ people in the community operating on low income are now forced to come up with a deposit and first month's rent and find a new home in just a couple of days.
I am starting this fundraiser to help my community with moving expenses during this hectic time. I'm hoping and praying that a few extra dollars will lift a burden and allow people to thrive during this time of change.
Thank you!!
