Roy (Rogelio) Tadeo is a proud Marine Corps veteran who retired in 1998 after serving our country in Overland Park, Kansas; Kansas City, Missouri; and San Antonio, Texas. Throughout his life, Roy has been a source of strength and support for those around him, always ready to lend a hand or a kind word. Now, he is facing one of the toughest battles of his life. Roy is currently undergoing radiation treatments and will soon begin chemotherapy, which will be required for the rest of his life. He recently shared, “I would rather fight the enemy on the battlefield than fight this beast. At least on the battlefield, I know who and where the enemy is. But I can’t see this beast.” These words capture the uncertainty and difficulty of his fight against illness—a challenge unlike any he faced during his years of service.
