On 2nd August, 16-year-old Ripley suffered a sudden brain bleed and stroke, requiring emergency surgery.
She has been in the ICU for 3 weeks now including with a short stint at Westmead for specialised treatment.
Until recent days, Ripley had been completely sedated to allow her brain to rest and heal, undergoing multiple surgeries and treatments. While the full impact is still unknown, Ripley is already showing small but powerful signs of progress.
Ripley is a quiet, funny, and strong-willed young girl who loves softball, brings laughter to her friends, and has her whole life ahead of her.
It is still very early days. We don’t yet know how long she will remain in ICU or what rehabilitation will look like, but her family is by her side every step of the way.
How you can help
We, Ripley’s friends, have set up this fundraiser to support her recovery journey.
Funds raised will help:
• Home modifications will be required to make Ripley’s living environment safe and suitable when she is able to return home
• Ongoing rehabilitation costs to help her regain her strength and independence
• The day-to-day costs of being at the hospital every day—travel, parking, and other essentials
Whether you know Ripley personally, through school, softball, or the wider community, or are simply moved by her story, your support means the world.
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference.
Please keep Ripley and her family in your thoughts, prayers, and hearts as she continues this long journey.
On behalf of her family and friends thank you.
