Support Rachel Studying in Korea — Adventist Colleges Abroad

I am Rachel Brooks, a current Junior at Southwestern Adventist University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business. This summer, I have an exciting opportunity to participate in the Adventist Colleges Abroad (ACA) Korean language program in Seoul, South Korea. Participating in this program aligns with my long-term goal of teaching English in South Korea upon graduation in December 2025, and I would greatly appreciate any support I could receive in order to make this experience possible.

ACA is a Seventh-day Adventist program that gives students the opportunity to study abroad. The ACA South Korea program is held at Sahmyook University for a duration of 6 weeks. Throughout the semester, I will be able to study the Korean language in a classroom; participate in multiple cultural trips and tours, such as touring Jeju Island and the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ); and exchange culture and language.

I am currently enrolled in Oxford Seminar's Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certification program, as I plan to move to South Korea post-graduation. Broadening my global perspective and improving my Korean language skills would significantly help me to better serve in a Korean classroom. Participating in the ACA program will provide me with the opportunity to improve my language proficiency and also immerse myself culturally. These skills are not only important to succeed in my future career in education, but also to have a deeper understanding of my students so I can make a meaningful impact in the way I believe God is calling me. This program will facilitate my personal and professional growth and allow me to represent Southwestern Adventist University globally.

I am seeking financial support to assist with tuition, travel expenses, and living costs during my studies abroad this summer semester. Any funding would greatly alleviate my financial burden and allow me to fully focus on my studies and cultural immersion.
