My name is Phil. I was very recently a victim of a hit-and-run head-on collision. As a result of that accident, I required two ambulance rides, two ER visits, two surgeries to repair multiple broken bones in my right foot, and a two-week hospital stay.
I will require a very long recovery with many medical appointments, including weekly post-op visits with the orthopedic trauma surgeon for up to four months, followed by many weeks of physical therapy to walk again.
Many of these expenses are not fully covered, or not covered at all, by insurance. For example, transportation to my many medical appointments. I will not be able to drive for many months, and I need to pay out of pocket for transportation. The costs for a round trip on Uber to the orthopedic trauma center alone are $250-$300 round trip, weekly. The costs for mobility devices like a knee scooter, walker, and the many different types of orthopedic shoes that I will need are also not covered by insurance. Same with other devices like a shower bench.
I also still don't know how much my total out-of-pocket costs will be for all the emergency transport, surgeries, and the hospital stay, but the total is close to $200K so far, and it seems as if I get a new invoice in the mail every day.
I want to thank all of the Good Samaritans at the accident scene who kept my leg raised and placed a tourniquet on my right ankle before fire and rescue arrived. I most likely would have required a transfusion without your clear thinking and assistance.
I am again asking for your kindness with any financial assistance to help me in covering these costs. It will be greatly appreciated. Thank you with all my heart.
