Support Our Sophie!

At the end of July, Sophie discovered a small lump growing in her abdomen.  Many ultrasounds and MRI's later, it was determined surgery was needed, and doctors were still unsure as to what this was. September  24th, a month after her 25th birthday, that lump, now the size of a small watermelon, was finally removed along with her appendix, right ovary and fallopian tube and 1/4 of her uterus.  Sophie has been diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer caused by the dysgerminoma (malignant germ cell tumor in the ovary) and will undergo 5-6 months of aggressive chemotherapy.  She will have to freeze eggs to preserve her fertility, this is not covered by insurance.  Sophie has moved back home to Long Island, NY having to leave her job, friends and life behind in Aspen, CO.

If you know Sophie, you understand her capacity and strength to get through just about anything that life throws at her. This time is no different.
