Hello everyone, my name is Misael Hunt Butler, and I’ve created this GoFundMe to help cover the cost of my college education.

I’m currently enrolled as a freshman at Oakwood University, majoring in Applied Mathematics with a concentration in Engineering. I’m passionate about learning, problem-solving, and using my skills to make a positive impact in the world. I also play the bass guitar and enjoy playing volleyball.

My Background

I recently graduated from Pine Forge Academy (PFA)—the only historically Black, Seventh-day Adventist boarding academy. My time at PFA was transformative. I was actively involved in:

PFA helped shape who I am today. I’m incredibly grateful for the life lessons, experiences, and lifelong friendships I gained during my time there.

However, attending PFA came with a significant financial cost—over $20,000 per year, not including travel expenses. That’s a big sacrifice my parents made for my education.

Why I Need Your Help

This year, our family is facing a unique financial challenge. While I begin my freshman year at Oakwood:

That means my parents are now paying for three tuitions at once. They’re doing everything they can to make it work, but it’s putting an enormous financial strain on them. I often hear them say things like:

“I don’t know where the money’s going to come from.”

or,

“I guess we’ll be eating rice & beans and PB&J every day.”

They continue to pray for a way forward—and I hope this fundraiser can be part of that answer.
