I am writing this from the CICU for my newborn daughter, Mabel Rose, as I watch wonderful nurses care for my girl.. I find myself daydreaming of the day I can kiss, hold, and feed her. To hear her cry and witness her feel the sunshine and salty air for the first time.

Most of all, the day we bring her home.

Mabel Rose entered the world on December 13, 2025, and from her very first breath, she has been a fighter.

What began as a peaceful blissful birth quickly became a fight for her life.

Within hours, MabelRose was rushed to the NICU and transferred to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami for urgent, specialized care, which is where Mabel Rose was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia—a rare and complex combination that demanded immediate, life-saving intervention.

With only 9 reported cases of the combination of both defects in history, she is a true miracle. A testament of God’s promise.

In just the first weeks of her life, she’s faced major surgery to repair the hole in her diaphragm and put her organs in the correct place; alongside critical cardiac procedures that have unveiled the true complexity of her condition.

She is small, but mighty.

Her story is already marked by God’s hand.

This is not a short or simple journey, with Mabel Rose’s condition she normally would face multiple open-heart surgeries as part of her ongoing care- The Norwood, The Glenn and The Fontan.

Though in recent days the reality has begun to settle that the complexity of her case, is likely demanding a Heart Transplant and transfer of care to UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital in Gainesville.

Our team has begun informing the team at Shands Hospital, and a deadline has been put in place.

If she does not show improvement in that time- then this is the path we must face.

The path God has paved for our babygirl.

These next steps bring hope—but they also bring significant emotional, logistical, and financial challenges.

Still, we are not shaken. We are not afraid. We are standing firmly in our faith in Our Lord.

For His Word says,

“Do not fear, for I am with you;

do not be dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you and help you;

I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

— Isaiah 41:10
