We are so excited to bring this contemporary interpretation of Lord of the Flies, directed by Jenna Roth-Smith and Lizzie Leach, to the Court Square Theater in Long Island City from December 4th-7th, 2025!
OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL:
We've secured enough funding to cover the costs of our rehearsal space and performance venue, as well as small stipends for every member of our company. However, we still need your support to fully fund our design budget (inclusive of set, props, costumes, lighting, & sound) and cover our production's administrative expenses. These costs include the production rights, production insurance, scripts (required by our rights license), transportation for load-in and strike, and any emergency expenses that arise. Furthermore, any surplus funding from this campaign will go directly to increasing the stipends for our cast and creative team!
Our remaining budget breakdown is as follows:
- Design Budget: $1600
- General & Administrative: $1900
- TOTAL: $3500
While this is a large amount of money, every penny counts!
- $5 could be a prop!
- $10 could be a bulk load of laundry during tech and between shows!
- $25 represents 5% of our costumes budget!
All donors will be thanked in our program and on social media! Additionally, any non-anonymous donations of $100 or more will be recognized as "supporters of the arts."
ABOUT THE SHOW:
Our production takes place not on the island of the original text, but in a school classroom. The familiar childhood setting allows us to explore how cultures self-replicate in novel environments and contexts, and provides a stark contrast to the characters' escalating violence throughout the play. This version of Lord of the Flies is animated by our experiences as young artists in our current political climate, which in turn inspired the central question of our production: "Are we the generation tasked with saving the world, and have we been set up to fail?"
