Support Kublai’s fight after a serious motorcycle accident

Hi everyone,
My name is Kym, and I am reaching out to you today with a heavy heart on behalf of my nephew, Kublai, and his beautiful family.

On Saturday, May 23, 2026, Kublai’s life changed in an instant. While off-base from his post serving with the Canadian Armed Forces in Wainwright, Alberta, he was involved in a catastrophic motorcycle accident in Edmonton.

The injuries he sustained are devastating. Kublai is currently hospitalized with a damaged carotid artery, and paralysis from the chest down. Right now, doctors cannot tell us if this paralysis is permanent. We are holding onto hope, but what we do know for certain is that Kublai faces an incredibly steep, grueling road to rehabilitation and recovery.

Kublai has dedicated his young life to serving others, but right now, he and his family need us to serve them.

His parents dropped everything and rushed to Alberta to be by his hospital bedside, where they remain right now. But a crisis like this ripples through an entire household. Kublai is part of a big, loving family of six.

Back home in British Columbia, his three younger brothers—all under the age of 11—are being cared for by family.
While my sister and her husband focus on saving their eldest son, the reality of the world hasn't paused.

This being said The military provides limited support for family and does provide benefits for kublai in recovery and life changing supports, funding for caregivers although, the caregiver funds are delayed. These supports do not include any specialized wheelchairs or extra curricular supports like gaming chairs or bills or travel outside of the parents so his 3 small brothers can’t fly out with things being tight

Bills are already stacking up. This GoFundMe has been established to create a lifeline for them. Your donations will go directly toward:

Covering immediate travel, lodging, and living expenses for his parents so they can remain by Kublai's side in Edmonton without the fear of financial ruin.

Keeping the household afloat in BC, ensuring his three little brothers are stable and cared for while their parents are away.

Funding Kublai’s future rehabilitation, specialized medical care, and the long-term recovery needs that lie ahead.

No family should have to choose between paying their bills and sitting beside their critically injured child in a hospital room. If you are able, please consider donating to alleviate this immense burden.

If you cannot donate, please hold Kublai in your thoughts and share this page with your community.
