Support Krista Fuqua's Fight Against Illness
Donation protected

Hello all!
my name is Cynthia Grubb and I’m here to raise funds for a family close to me-Her name is Krista Fuqua and she is an amazing Nurse Practitioner who is super sick. It started with Pneumonia and has turned into a severe case of ARDS. She is currently on ECMO and ventilated with a tracheotomy. She is in her 40s with a teenage son. Currently she has been in the hospital for a month. I have been traveling back and forth between McKinney and San Antonio taking care of him during the week and working as a charge nurse myself on the weekends. I am trying to raise enough to support my trips to and from and pay her household bills. While she is not working she is not making any money and I want her to have a home to return to when she gets better. Any help you can give would be much appreciated
UPDATE:
Krista is hanging in there! After a setback last weekend where her blood pressure was dangerously low she was placed on a medication. Her fingers are now blackened-but she is talking and doing PT every day-they have said the fingers on her right hand might have to come off.

All money donated will go to her household expenses and medical care so that she has a home to return to and her son will be provided for-thanks to all who have donated thus far!
Morning all!
I was asked to share a background on Krista’s life so here goes-Krista and I met about 25 years ago as I started my first job in nursing-she graduated from nursing school about 3 years later-she then obtained her psychiatric nurse practitioner degree and worked in the field specializing in child psychiatry at Cook Children’s. After a time moved to Oregon and worked for their state psychiatric program for about 6 years-she moved back to the Dallas area to be closer to me and family she has here-she is still licensed in Oregon and works contract for 2 separate agencies. One agency is devoted to helping refugees as part of another state program. She has devoted her professional career to helping children, adults, refugees with their mental health-she spends 8+hours a day helping others to the best of her ability. Recently she started a Bible study of revelations and was sharing those insights with me. She is a loving mother to a 16yr old who is amazingly responsible-When I think of the person she is I think loving mother, giving friend, and selfless professional.
I started this site so I could help take care of her household expenses and possibly her future medical expenses which I’m sure will be great-being on ECMO for close to a month now won’t be cheap! Thank you to all who have donated and to those who are considering!
