Support Kendra's Mission to Help Romanian Children

Hi everyone!

My name is Kendra :) I am a student studying Human Development at Brigham Young University. I have an amazing opportunity next summer of 2026 to volunteer abroad in a Romanian orphanage/foster care program for 3-4 months. My group of about 4-8 volunteers will be with the organization ILP (International Language Program), and our goal is to change the children's lives through small and simple acts of kindness. Holding children with special needs, assisting with feeding tubes, and teaching small children how to walk are just a few of the things I will be doing there to help. I will be braiding hair, singing songs, and just being with the children to help develop their social skills. Most children I will be working with is between the ages of 5-18, and every child has some type of disability, ranging from mild to extremely severe. Unfortunately, some may even pass away while they are in our care. What a beautiful chance to improve a child's life regardless of what state they are in.

This opportunity means a lot to me because I love children and their sweet innocence and pure love. Every child deserves a chance to have that love shown back to them, especially ones without a mom or dad with them. Additionally, volunteering in Romania will help me get hours I need for a required Child Life internship at a hospital next fall.

I am super excited for this trip and am working various jobs to do my own part to cover additional things like vacation time traveling and extra souvenirs (because I also can travel to other countries in Europe with the volunteers on my time off!)
