Support Katelyn June "Baby Kate's" Fight Against Leukemia

Kelly and Dave Matteson are living every parent’s worst nightmare. Their sweet 2-year-old daughter, Katelyn, was just diagnosed with AML Leukemia. What began as worrying symptoms from what they thought was the flu quickly turned into an unexpected future long hospital stay, testing, and heartbreaking news no family is ever prepared to hear. Today, Katelyn is in the hospital starting chemotherapy, bravely beginning the fight of her young life.

At just two years old, spunky and sweet Katelyn should be playing, laughing, and making memories with her family not facing hospital rooms, IVs, and long days of treatment. Yet even now, she continues to show incredible strength and courage that inspires everyone around her.

As a Nurse herself, Kelly is an essential worker who is on the front lines every day, caring for others, but now she is unable to work so she can be on the front line for her own daughter’s battle. Dave's career has been placed on hold as well as he is balancing time between the hospital and home, caring for Katelyn’s extremely concerned and confused four-year-old sister Kasey and let's not forget their family dog, Sammy. Both of their families are also taking on new responsibilities of caring for Kasey and Sammy around the clock so that Kelly and Dave can stay with Katelyn.

With extended hospital stays and ongoing treatments ahead, the financial strain is quickly adding up — lost wages, medical expenses, travel, meals, and everyday household bills. The last thing this family should have to worry about right now is finances. Their focus needs to be on one thing only: helping Katelyn heal.
