My name is Cathy and I am Joan's oldest sister. Joan is facing an incredibly difficult journey after experiencing serious complications from throat surgery. What was supposed to be a straightforward recovery has turned into months of disability. Joan now has constant difficulty breathing, and unable to speak. Thankfully she is now able to swallow some food and drink avoiding a feeding tube. Joan has been a nurse and paramedic for 33 years, working both jobs up until surgery. Unfortunately, during this time she will only receive 60% of her pay for one job. Her husband, Chris, has also had take time off work to care for her and take her to frequent medical appointments and therapy sessions.
Doctors estimate it could take 3 to 6 months before Joan can begin to recover-thats when they will know if it is permanent. On top of all of this insurance has been a nightmare. Joan's health insurance through Mercy only covers their own sites, but all her care is being provided throughUC's airway specialists, meaning most appointments and treatments require large amounts of out of pocket expenses.
The medical bills, therapy costs, and lost income are adding up quickly, and the financial stresses becoming difficult. I am asking for your help to ease this burden for Joan and Chris so they can focus on what truly matters-healing and recovery.
Every donation, will help and go directly to Joan's medical expenses, therapy and essential living costs during thus time.
Thank you for your love, generosity and prayers. Your support means the world to Joan and Chris
