After serving 20 years in the military and another 17 years as a peace officer, I never imagined I would be facing one of the toughest battles of my life. I was diagnosed with stage three cancer, and despite my hopes to continue working for a few more years before retirement, my health made it impossible to keep up. Recently, I received the news that my cancer had progressed to stage four. For the past year, I have been undergoing chemotherapy and doing everything I can to fight, but the financial strain has been overwhelming.
