Support 'Imbas Forosnai' Short Film

'Imbas Forosnai' is a community-made short film, produced by a collective of Limerick/Clare based passionate filmmakers, musicians, artists, friends & family. With several years in pre-production, we finally got to make our film in August 2020, and completed post production in August 2021. The project received funding from the Limerick Film Bursary award in 2019 and The Memory of Water project with Ormston House in 2020. Being an ambitious short film, the production needs your help to cover the final post-production expenses, to support the film's journey to find new audiences and to ensure our cast and crew and all supported in the work they have put into this project.

 

‘Imbas Forosnai’ is a short film directed by Shane Serrano, written by spoken word artist Shane Davis and with the consultation of anthropologist and folklorist Dr. Billy Mag Fhloinn. The film is produced by Pete Moles for Crude Media.

 

Set in modern day Ireland, ‘Imbas Forosnai’, which translates to ‘Wisdom That Illuminates’, is based on the clairvoyant practices of poets of ancient Ireland. Still practised by those with the eyes to see, a young poet travels through space and time to come face to face with an entity as old as Éire. The film taps into the primal desire for meaning, connecting ancient ritual with contemporary concerns. 'Imbas Forosnai' fuses ambitious visuals with the spoken word poetry of Shane Davis. In the film, he embodies a great and ancient entity, speaking from the perspective of the River Shannon.
