Dear Friends and Family,

As you have been witnessing the horrors before our eyes and intensification of violence, you can imagine what life is for people there. There’s also another side. Whether in Gaza or the rest of Palestine no one is giving up, no matter how discouraged. Students and parents are not giving up, will never give up, on education and schooling. This year’s high school graduates just received their final exam (tawjihi) scores and are getting ready to take the next step. One example of devotion to education and using their educational advantages is Hala, “my niece” who just completed her first year of medical school at Al Quds University Faculty of Medicine in Jerusalem. She has been dreaming and working hard through years of COVID-19 and teacher strikes when she studied alone mostly and sometimes with her friends using whatever materials were available to learn including YouTube and other electronic means just to be able to enter medical school. I have spent time with her and her wonderful family. Hala is truly a wonder to behold. Her father, my "brother" Thaer, is also a hard worker and undying supporter of Hala. Unfortunately, as a driver in the tourist industry, his work has almost come to a complete halt. That is why I am asking for your support. I am doing what I can to help raise tuition of $11k for the coming year because I love Hala and 100% confident in her ability to fulfill her dream.
