Support Future Family Fitness Center

Hi, my name is Lisa Wilsdon, owner and operator of Fam Fit Fun. A small business that allows parents to bring their kids to my fun fitness classes. My absolute dream is to build and open a family fitness centre of my very own here in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

As a mom to two little girls who were born around covid, I quickly gained a lot of weight. With gyms closed I had to learn how to workout and get fit while having my kids around as best as I could. What quickly happened was how much I realized my kids were watching me when my oldest at 3yo kept lifting her potty and when questioned she said "I want to be strong like you mommy". That was Jan 2021. When gyms opened again in Ontario where I lived at the time, my local YMCA had drop-in child minding. This was essential to accelerate my weightloss and strength goals. Since then I lost 90+lb, became a certified fitness coach, nutritionist, pre/postnatal fitness specialist, bodybuilding specialist, Poundfit and Zumbini instructor as well as certified in Mat Pilates all after moving to Fredericton, NB with my family.

I got a job working at my local large chain gym and quickly saw just how difficult it is here for parents to workout at a gym without arranging a babysitter or trade time with their spouse. Child minding has been removed from Goodlife and the Y for gym members. There are a couple gyms that offer kid's fitness classes but they charge $18+/class/kid. Family memberships are also at an all time high too. Without financial assistance most average income families can't afford them.

That's where my dream and drive to pursue my own facility comes into a call to take action. I want a 3000+ sq/ft facility that has a drop-in daycare area that is cleverly designed for kids where it appears like their very own colourful fitness centre. Staff will be hired to professionally watch their kids while they workout on their own in the fitness area or catch a group fitness class.

The funds will be used:

to purchase a space

renovations

build a secure play area for kids

buy fitness equipment

insurance, permits, licenses

sound equipment

marketing

hire staff

computer equipment for retail

products/swag/supplements/snacks for the retail area

My passion is family and fitness. So why not make it my life's dream to help other families reach their fitness goals too. If nobody else will help, I sure will because I know how much my life has changed since my little girl told me she wanted to be strong like me.
