On December 3, our beloved Nino Ruocco passed away in a car accident on his way to pick up his two beautiful children from school. He died a block away from the school. His tragic death has left our family and so many in our community shattered and mourning. We are deeply humbled by the outpouring of love, sympathy, and support we have received in the last two days. It is clear that Nino was a cherished and immeasurably loved father, husband, son, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, friend, colleague, neighbor, and mentor.
Nino's tragic and premature death at 43 leaves behind his wife, Maria (Izzy), and his children, Leo (8) and Carmen (5), whom he supported as the primary breadwinner of the family. Nino was a wonderful provider for his family and was very fortunate to have excellent benefits from his work at Exxon. Nonetheless, it is doubtless not going to be enough for the significant expenses that will be incurred over the next several months, in addition to the long-term impact of losing the breadwinner of the family.
We recognize these are tough economic times and many are struggling. So many folks have asked how they can help, and any expressions of your love and support, no matter how big or small, will be deeply appreciated by Maria and her kids—whether through this fundraiser, a phone call, a hug, a warm meal, taking the dogs for a walk, a playdate for the kids, or anything else that feels right to you.
Thank you for putting your arms around this family and comforting them as they grieve this unimaginable loss.
