Support for the Holland Family

Glenn Holland is 47 years young, and was recently diagnosed in April 2018 with Stage IIIa Adenocarcinoma Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC). 

The traditional chemo/radiation route gives him only a 1 in 5 chance of survival in 5 years. Not what we wanted to hear!

Glenn was recently accepted into an experimental immunotherapy clinical trial for a new drug at Duke Cancer Center in Durham. 

Insurance will cover some, but not nearly all, of the direct medical costs associated with this clinical trial and Glenn’s further treatment.

This Go Fund Me page has been created by friends of the Holland Family in an effort to provide them financial assistance, so that they are able to focus on Glenn getting better, faster - instead of worrying about rising medical expenses.

On May 17th, Glenn was administered his first clinical dose and his current treatment plan is as follows: 

- Immunotherapy treatment over 6 weeks
- Recovery
- Re-scan to check progress
- Surgery to remove mass and lymph nodes
- Recovery for 4-6 weeks
- Immunotherapy again over 8 weeks
- Possible chemo and/or radiation over 6 to 12 weeks
- Recovery
- Continued maintenance doses as needed

All of this should be complete in 10-12 months as long as everything is going well. Possible side effects can be life threatening as this new drug puts the immune system into overdrive. But if it works, it can buy them more time for a cure.
