Support for my Mom's Stroke Recovery Journey

On April 27 2024 my mom suffered a massive hemorrhagic stroke while sitting down having a normal conversation, one minute she was fine and the next minute she’s having a stroke. I am thankful she was sitting and still responsive, she didn’t even know what was happening. She was rushed to the ER whereby she had to undergo an angiogram that did not go as we hoped, as they were in attempting to remove the clot in her brain they realized there was a bleeding artery which resulted in them having to abort the procedure and she had to be intubated immediately and she’s been intubated and in the ICU since. She then had to undergo a second procedure for an EVD to drain the blood from her brain, thankfully it went well, however it wasn’t enough as they said she had more pressure than bleeding on her brain which then resulted in her having to get a craniectomy to help relieve the swelling on her brain, again, thanks to God, that too was a success. My mom is a true fighter and she is still fighting! As the doctors have cautioned while she is making slow progress, the recovery process will be more of a marathon than a sprint. At this time, my family remains hopeful and we ask that you continue to PRAY! It is too soon to know of the long-term prognosis as her health care professionals continue to monitor her brain for bleeding and swelling and there will be other procedures that will need to be done as they see fit to help in giving her the best recovery possible.

This unexpected incident has taken a toll on my family, both emotionally and financially. My mom is my best friend and I am not ready to lose her and I know that God does what no man can therefore I ask for continued prayers. I am currently not able to work as I have to be here most of the day to meet with doctors, get updates, make decisions and give consent on her behalf as I am her advocate. I am now making an urgent appeal for your help as we seek to raise the necessary funds to cover both her primary and tertiary care. I cannot do this alone or I wouldn’t be here asking for your support if I didn’t desperately need it. This GoFundMe page is to support my mom getting the help she needs and preparation of having her transferred to a facility to provide her with intensive therapy. The funds will go towards her out-of-pocket health bills, recovery and the continued cost of her stroke rehabilitation along with assisting me in preparing a safe stroke friendly room for her as when she is allowed to go home we will still need to continue therapy.

My mom is not only a loving and dedicated mother to her kids, loving grandmother and great grand mother but by far the most caring and generous person and friend that one can have. Such a selfless woman overall that is incredibly strong who has always been independent and always the first to help when somebody needs her. This time, she needs all of you.

We all know her as a fighter with a very strong spirit and beyond faithful and because of that I believe she will recover. She just needs your support to get her there.
