Many of you may know about my grandson or may have met him over the years and enjoyed getting to know him and our adventures to museums, beaches, and our John Wayne movie marathons. Recently, his family is facing an unexpected and heartbreaking loss.
During the recent storm in Redding, my son and daughter-in-law were forced to evacuate their home as floodwaters rose rapidly. With little time to prepare, they grabbed what they could and left, not knowing what they would return to.
When they were finally able to go back, their home had taken on more than six inches of water. Nearly everything was destroyed. All of their furniture was ruined, along with a large portion of their clothing, shoes, toys, and household items. Their young son’s bedroom was heavily damaged and will need to be completely replaced. Baby items and everyday essentials were soaked and could not be saved. Their pets were also displaced and are currently staying at a shelter.
They later learned that their renter's insurance does not cover flood damage, leaving them to face this loss on their own.
This devastation has taken a heavy emotional toll. They are exhausted, overwhelmed, and trying to hold it together for their children. Their young son is deeply affected by the sudden loss of his home, his room, and his sense of safety. They are also caring for a newborn who is just three months old, making this already difficult situation even more overwhelming.
Funds raised will go directly toward replacing essential items such as furniture, clothing, shoes, baby necessities, and basic household needs as they work to rebuild and restore a sense of normalcy for their family.
Any support, whether through a donation or sharing this page, means more than words can express. Thank you for helping our family during this incredibly difficult time.
